Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Zahara Jolie, has officially filed legal documents to remove “Pitt” from her last name, marking another major step in the ongoing trend among the former couple’s children distancing themselves from their father’s surname.

According to court filings obtained by PEOPLE, the 21-year-old requested to be legally recognized as Zahara Marley Jolie, dropping the hyphenated “Jolie-Pitt” name she was previously known by. The petition was filed in the Superior Court of California and dates back to late April 2026.

Zahara’s decision follows similar legal name changes within the family. Her older brother Maddox recently filed to remove “Pitt” from his name as well, and her sister Shiloh previously had her name legally changed after turning 18. Other siblings have also been seen using “Jolie” publicly in recent years.

Reports indicate that Zahara had already stopped using her father’s surname in informal settings before the legal filing. She was introduced without “Pitt” during her college graduation from Spelman College and has also used only “Jolie” in other public appearances.
